Yuri Honing - Memory Lane

(SACD-HYBRID) from the very time that he entered the jazz scene in the early nineties, saxophonist Yuri Honing found new ways to move people with his slightly melancholic sound and crystal clear constructions he used for his improvisations. Since then he has performed and recorded with such jazz greats as Pat Metheny, Paul Bley, Gary Peacock and Charlie Haden. His new album Memory Lane is a ballad album that shows Honing's lyrical side. For this project he invited some of the finest musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra to create a large ensemble with strings, woodwind and rhythm section. This SACD sounds as if you were there in the studio as it was recorded.
