Glen Starkey of New Times SLO gives the 'Ynana Rose' CD a great first review: 'The star of the show is Ynana's elastic voice that can move from husky balladry to bell-clear yodeling, not to mention the diversity of her songwriting-she penned nine of the album's 11 tracks. Ynana [...] moves effortlessly over the musical map on her new CD-from folk to waltz to bluegrass to jazz to country-all with the help of a bevy of well-known musicians. It's lush production is thanks to co-producer Damon Castillo, who recorded the album in his Laurel Lane Studios in SLO Town. If you're a fan of Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Corinne West, Sarah Jarosz, and Dolly Parton, you'll fall in love with Ynana's sound.' Ynana Rose sings and writes with a passion to connect with people through music. Ynana has a truly soulful voice that crosses genres with ease, holding the listener right in the moment with her. Her songs speak of the joy and heartbreak of living, and the daily struggles of love. Her debut CD, released in 2014, is an eclectic mix of folk music beautifully threaded with jazz, bluegrass and country. The California Central Coast is home to fine wine, natural beauty and great music venues, and Ynana has played in many - including SLO Brew, Sculpterra Winery, Vines on the Marycrest, Avion and Claw, The Wise Owl, The Barrel Room, Salisbury Vineyards, D'Anbino Cellars, Steynberg Gallery, Avila Bay Club, and more. Ynana has been involved in musical projects of many different genres throughout her life. As a vocalist, she has embraced choral ensembles, folk, rock and roll, La Nueva Canción, traditional Música Folklórica, classic honky tonk, western swing, blues and bluegrass. Pulling on inspiration from Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, Corinne West, Sarah Jarosz, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Eddie Vedder and many more, Ynana sings and writes straight from the heart. "Songwriting," she says, "keeps me honest, staying true to the emotion and structure of the song. Music invites an eternity of pursuit, and I feel blessed to be able to go chasing it down."
