Blues and Boogie Woogie have been a life long passion for Wendy DeWitt - a San Francisco Bay Area favorite in the blues and boogie scene and in her travels to Europe and around the US. Her style is influenced by Sunnyland Slim, Albert Ammons, Otis Spann and Memphis Slim - the greats of blues and boogie piano . Wendy has appeared with Charlie Musselwhite, Otis Rush, Jimmy Thackery and Mavis Staples. She headed to Boston with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters for a performance at the Boston Symphony Hall and played one of her last concerts wit the original Queen of the Boogie Hadda Brooks, who not only congratulated Wendy's left hand delivery, but also blessed her as a Queen of Boogie Woogie with a mission to keep the tradition alive. Hank Ballard, author of The Twist and Look at Little Sister and with whom Wendy toured for five years named Wendy his favorite piano player. Hank's roots were in the blues and he was also a big fan of Delmark recording artist Steve Freund, with whom Wendy worked for 10 years touring and appearing on one of his Delmark releases C for Chicago. Steve returned the favor by producing two of Wendy's CD's. From Les Nuits des Boogie Woogie in Paris, France, to the San Francisco Blues Festival, Wendy shares her passion for boogie and low down blues. Wendy's writing has been praised by Robben Ford and Danny Caron (Charles Brown) and is heard around the world on blues radio. Jump and swing, or settle in and groove to a soulful moment with Wendy at the 88's singing and stomping your blues away.
