New York City based Relic Records was home to one of the largest treasure troves of vintage doo-wop, vocal harmony and early rhythm and blues in America. Relic, aside from having their own in-house label, was home to various classic independent record labels from around the country that were instrumental in defining the sound of doo-wop and it's associated forms. This generous 25 track compilation was culled from dozens of cutting-edge independent labels and features songs that were regionally popular between 1954 and 1965 to provide a unique overview of America's doo-wop scene. Featuring vintage tracks from the Harptones, Moonglows, Velours, Unique Teens, Martells, Excels, Starlarks and many more classic artists not found on most generic doo-wop compilations, this collection exposes the depth of Relic's amazing collection.
