The Tournament

Kung Fu-trained Hong (Carter Wong) only wanted to provide back-up when his debt-ridden friend entered them in a Thai kickboxing tournament. The beatings they sustained were mortal to the friend, and the disgrace spurred the suicide of Hong's sensei father (Ko Hisiang-Ting).
