Bounced from his theater critic job, overbearing, overweight, once-promising poet Ted Wallace (Roger Allam) readily takes a paid assignment to visit the palatial estate of estranged friend Sir Michael Logan (Matthew Modine) and investigate whether Logan's self-involved son David (Tommy Knight) has developed miraculous healing powers.
