Margaret Sullavan sparkles in the Good Fairy, a charming romantic comedy directed by William Wyler and written by Preston Sturges. Leaving the orphanage for a job in the city, Luisa (Sullavan) is a naive young woman who attracts the attention of Konrad (Frank Morgan), a wealthy-but-lecherous meatpacker. Duly warned about the evils of men, Luisa claims that she is married, a ploy that backfires when Konrad insists upon meeting her husband. Picking a random name from the telephone book, Luisa selects the unsuspecting Max Sporum (Herbert Marshall), a struggling lawyer unaware of her ruse, and that is when the real fun begins. Featuring an all-star cast that also includes Cesar Romero, Beulah Bondi, Alan Hale, Reginald Owen and Eric Blore, the Good Fairy is an enchanting, heartwarming classic.
