The Ceremony

Masuo Sakurada (Kenzo Kawarazaki) journeyed far to be by the side of his cousin Terumichi (Atsuo Nakamura) after receiving a telegram with a veiled threat of suicide. Along the way, he'd resignedly look back upon a codependent life spent with generations of a neurotic and toxic family whose members never seemed to tire of exploiting his dutiful nature.
