Having lost her husband and infant during WWI, LouLou Mason (Jane Wyman) was desperate for purpose, and found it as family nanny for a widowed industrialist (Charles Laughton). After the ensuing 30 years find her going from household to household and looking after young charges, she receives a stunning surprise when at her lowest ebb.
