The film was based on a play by Philip Barry, one of the most revered writers in Hollywood, television, and Broadway history, whose work included The Philadelphia Story, Holiday, and Without Love. For trivia buffs: Legendary director George Cuckor went uncredited on this feature, though he stepped in to guide several scenes after official director Edward Griffith walked off the production.
