A journey through 60s UK psychedelic movement, this outstanding compilation features some of the great psychedelic rock groups of the current era whom Black Widow commissioned for this tribute. In short, star acts revisiting the tunes of their influences. Respectful hat-tipping and wild transformations come from four of the neo-psyche scenes finest acts. Standarte comb their vast record collections and warped recollections delivering five tracks with 'Fanfare Fire Poem' from the Crazy World of Arthur Brown an awesome version of 'Black Snake' by Atomic Rooster, 'Misleading Colors' by the Gods and a rendition of Soft Machine's 'Why Are We Sleeping' which is topped only by their killer version of 'Brain' by Action. The combo segue-way each track with miniature improvised intros. Beggars Farm have the second set with an 8 min rave on 'The Joke' by High Tide, a run through 'Rumbling Spires' by Tyrannosaurus Rex, 'Evil Woman' by Black Sabbath, 'Uncle Harry' by the Pink Fairies and close the inspired jam with 'We Took the Wrong Step Years Ago' by Hawkwind. Fantasyy Factoryy revise the obscure gems 'Red Sun' by Janus, Arcadium's 'Poor Lady', T. Rex classic 'Jewel' and the funky 'Evening Over Rooftops' from the classic Edgar Broughton Band. Closing the set on this magnificent tribute to early UK psyche is fittingly the neo-psyche kings Sun Dial doing their fuzziest distortion groove on their 10 min take of 'Soul Thing' by Arzachel. A must for fans of the psychedelic scene -past and present.
