Daughter of the Mountain is the first volume of The Mantra Project, a multi-CD collection of mantra-driven music we'll be recording over the next few years. Daughter of the Mountain is one of many names for the goddess Parvati, beloved of Lord Shiva. Together, they represent the power of transformation, inner stillness, and supreme love. When Shiva drinks poison in order to save the world, Parvati takes him in her lap and sings him back to life. Her song is the force, the sakti, within mantra. In the same way that yoga and meditation have exploded out of their counter-cultural beginnings, chanting is now breaking into the mainstream. We hope that by the end of the decade, mantra practice is as common as yoga classes and mindfulness meditation groups. And that the music of The Mantra Project, infused with the force of Parvati, brings healing and transformation to everyone it touches... and everyone they touch... multiplying in endless circles of luminosity, wisdom, and love.
