WITHOUT QUESTION Strangeways are one of the most crucial AOR bands of all time. That they were largely British only adds to the astonishing fact that this relatively unknown unit crafted music that would, in the opinion of connoisseurs, rival and in some cases eclipse the work of megastars such as Journey, Foreigner and Survivor. 'Walk in the Fire', the band's third album, continued their path to melodic nirvana, but not without having to deal with numerous difficulties. The band's previous album 'Native Sons' was created in an enormous rush of excitement, but incessant European touring and slow album sales had not generated the expected breakthrough. Signed to Bonaire, a production / management company connected to classy Canadian pomp rockers Saga, the band's relationship with their actual label RCA was deteriorating. An American launch had been botched and the band failed to tour there. Despite this lack of progress, a third album was sanctioned, this time with the band self-producing (engineered by Def Leppard associate Mike Shipley) and recorded once again in Switzerland.
