Seelie Court - the world's premier label for rare and previously unreleased archive recordings of underground folk, rock, proto-metal, and psychedelic music presents The Steve Brown Band. Formed in Newcastle, England, the band built a strong regional reputation through extensive live performances. Emerging from a progressive rock background, the group incorporated jazz rock elements, favoring extended compositions, complex rhythms, and poetic lyricism. Early line-ups evolved through the 1970s, with the band signing to Transatlantic Records in 1973, though a planned album was never released at the time. From 1973 to 1977, the group refined a sophisticated sound featuring saxophone and keyboards alongside guitar-led arrangements. Touring setbacks and management pressures later steered them briefly toward a more commercial direction. The band disbanded in 1977. In later years, original studio tapes were restored, resulting in the posthumous release Soul Full of Sin, documenting their intended 1973 album.
