FIRST TIME EVER ON CD! This release of Split 3 Ways by Splitwater Creek roughly marks the 25th anniversary of the original vinyl release of 1980. Recorded at Jack Clement Recorders in Nashville, TN, by award winning producer/engineer Billy Sherrill (Kenny Rogers, Marshall Tucker Band, Dixie Chicks), the songs presented here became the core of the band's show which built an enormous following in the nation's heartland in the late 70's and early 80's. The group logged hundreds of performances on college campuses and in the packed bars nearby, to showcase venues in major metro areas, as well as to huge crowds at festivals, arenas and stadiums. From these stages and local record stores, thousands of copies of this country-rock bluegrass folk album flooded over a six state area and received strong regional airplay, all in an era of disco and punk. Based out of western Kentucky, the high harmony, hot picking quartet consisted of Brady Howle - vocals, bass and harmonica, Norris Sherrill - vocals and lead guitar, Rusty McElrath - vocals, banjo and guitar, and Kenny Snow (who joined the group after the first pressing) - vocals, mandolin and fiddle. To round out the recordings, the services of drummer Bobby Daniels, pianist Steve Glasmeyer, and pedal steel player Mike Stanton were added. The resulting music was to become a cult classic - especially in college markets - across Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois. Every effort has been made to preserve the package design, content, and crisp sound of the original release. Digitally remastered at AudioGraphic Masterworks in Memphis, TN, this Silver Anniversary Edition of Split 3 Ways is now available for the first time ever on CD, due to popular demand.
