Her face bandaged, Angie Evans (Susan Hayward), recounts the events which brought her to the hospital. Angie, a nightclub singer, becomes involved with singer, Ken Conway (Lee Bowman), whose career has not yet taken off. Angie's agent gets Ken and piano accompanist Steve Anderson (Eddie Albert) a spot on a radio show singing cowboy songs. Ken sings a ballad which launches his career into success. Angie, to whom Ken is now married, has given birth to their daughter and has put her career on hold. While Angie stays home, she begins to drink and her alcoholism worsens. Ken's secretary Martha Gray (Marsha Hunt) comes to Ken's rescue. Angie soon realizes her husband is in love with Martha. Angie neglects their child, and Ken asks for a divorce and custody. A fire starts from Angie's lit cigarette, resulting in Angie suffering serious facial burns. There may be no hope, but Ken tries to stand by his wife as her life hits rock bottom. A sad classic which is beautifully portrayed by Susan Hayward. (104 minutes - 1947 - Black & White - 4:3)
