Sleepless Pacific is: James Bishop // Lead Vocals, Guitar Logan Nelson // Bass, Backup Vocals Esteban Cervantes // Lead Guitar Robin Morris // Keys Taylor Eldreth // Drums The band was formed in late 2010 by Esteban Cervantes, who teamed up with James Bishop, Taylor Eldreth, and Robin Morris to create what was then called Divine Providence. Originally formed to compete in the Poway High School Battle of the Bands, we didn't expect to be pursuing the band full-time. That is until the school cancelled the battle, and the band's original intentions were jeopardized. We had practiced a lot and we simply loved playing music together--we couldn't get enough of it. We decided that we didn't want to end that, so we kept the band going, giving music an opportunity to take us somewhere. A few months later, we changed our name to Sleepless Pacific after writing our first original together entitled 'Sleepless'. That's where the music we made gained purpose and direction as we formed our message around the songs we were writing. We started writing about the people and the things that have made an impact in our own lives, taking inspiration from the world surrounding us, as well as the speculations and emotions that we met within ourselves. It wasn't long before we realized that we couldn't keep our music within the four walls of the small room that we practiced in. We had become something more than just a form of entertainment and we believed that we could make a meaningful impact in the world if we were able to inspire others with our music. After playing a few local shows, we were making fast progress. We soon discovered that the passion we evoked in our music was inspiring others in ways we couldn't have predicted. As we gathered some local support, we began to realize that this band was something we too could believe in. Our desire to reach the hearts of listeners intensified as we expanded our reach beyond San Diego, playing shows all around Southern California. We felt called to be the voice of our generation, and to encourage our fans to be a light in a world overcome with darkness. We wanted to act out on that calling, and if we were going to keep making progress in our career, we knew that our next endeavor had to be something huge. About a year into our career, we welcomed fifth member, Logan Nelson. Not long after Logan joined the team, we began recording our debut album. The day after Christmas 2011, we traveled to LA and started the recording process for our completely original and self-produced album, 'Breaking Ground'. The name comes from a lyric in our song 'Are You Listening?' and we believe it fits the meaning behind the album perfectly. The album represents everything we have become in our formative years and it lays the foundation for everything we are about to become in our future as a band. For us, the title couldn't have been more fitting. It being our debut record, we are 'breaking ground' by taking a giant leap forward in our musical career. But the title takes on a double meaning as the messages and themes behind the songs on the album can be summed up in that one simple, yet meaningful lyric. When you purchase the album, you are supporting our journey. However, when you listen to the songs and pay heed to the meanings in the lyrics, you will join us in our efforts to make a difference in our communities and in the world. Thank you for reading, and we hope you can enjoy the album as much as we do.
