Origins: About the origins of the Picts and the legacy they left behind. Standing stones are the only physical thing they left behind. They disappeared into legend when they mixed with other inhabitants of what we now call Scotland. It led to the belief that they were actually mythical people. "By a certain point, probably during the 11th century, all the inhabitants of northern Alba had become fully Gaelicised Scots, and Pictish identity was forgotten. Later, the idea of Picts as a tribe was revived in myth and legend."
