The tongue-in-cheek album title refers to Ry Cooder's musical inspiration, the Tex Mex style his electric guitar slides across. His evocation of roots music has him take American hits such as "Stand By Me" and "He'll Have to Go" and fuse the sounds of Americana with those of neighboring cultures.
