Robyn's articulate, passionate and evocative writing has invited frequent comparisons to Richard Shindell (one of her favorite influences). Her songs are delivered with pure, warm, intimate vocals and appealing folk-Americana melodies. She has toured extensively; co-written and shared the stage with many fine writers and musicians; and taught songwriting at festival workshops. Robyn's second recording 'Many Moons' was one of the most-played records on folk radio in 2009, with no special promotion or representation. Now, her third and newest CD 'Waterproof,' produced by John Jennings (Mary-Chapin Carpenter) and featuring Christine Lavin, brings to life a fresh set of original songs for thinkers and dreamers. Reflecting at once a joyful and sober perspective on the world, it's an expansive chronicle of life's journeys...uplifting, activist, even spiritual, yet deeply personal. It's a compassionate embrace of the fragile and a paean to hope and resilience. A soulful, transparent, unpretentious performer, Robyn's literacy dates back to early childhood. A published poet and grade-school spelling bee champ, she published two bestselling books while in her 20s, and penned national magazine and newspaper pieces as a 16-year-old college freshman. When she turned her attention to music, her writing gifts translated naturally and beautifully. Her intelligent songcraft has garnered over 55 honors since 2005, including first place in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, first place at the Wildflower! Festival, and Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. She was a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist and has been an official showcasing artist at Folk Alliance International and regional conferences. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Robyn later settled in Seattle, and happily migrated south to Tucson in 2010. She is a passionate environmental and health advocate. Her commissioned song for Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) can be seen on Youtube and at the PAWS website. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................... "Robyn is a true musician and a fine member of the 'three chords and the truth' club." ~ JIMMY LAFAVE "Robyn Landis is the real deal, and I'm thrilled to be singing back-up for her on her new CD Waterproof." ~ CHRISTINE LAVIN "I'm not amazed that you have won so many awards...your songwriting is reminiscent of some of the great folk/rock/pop songs of the 60s, most particularly Paul Simon. You share the same sensibilities. If he was a woman he probably would have been born as you." ~ John Coinman, songwriter / Kevin Costner's Modern West Band "Like David Wilcox, her work is rich with sympathy for human frailty and the 1,001 disappointments the flesh is heir to." ~ Mark S. Tucker, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange "Robyn Landis radiates excellence with every word, every note and every song. This girl has what it takes--and then some!" ~ Dennis Brunnenmeyer, KVMR radio, CA 'I have been lucky to choose great artists-all hits no misses. Robyn Landis was proof of my good fortune. Once again folks went home smiling and thanking me for inviting them and hosting another wonderful artist. Robyn is the real thing-honest, incredibly smart, a voice that gives me goose bumps and tears all together, and she's drop-dead beautiful. Let's do it again, Robyn.' ~ John Borger, Concerts on the Lake, Allyn, WA (2013 Winner of Concerts in Your Home HOST OF THE YEAR) "Incredible, incredible writing...great vocals...near perfect...you can really tell where this woman is at. I LOVE this CD." ~ Dan Maher, DJ, Inland Folk, Spokane Public Radio (KFAE 89.1 FM) "I think Robyn is one of the most intelligent songwriters on the scene today, a thoroughly professional musician, and I remain her committed fan. I was completely won over by her musicianship and intelligent lyric writing." ~ Bobby Kimmel (toured and recorded with Linda Ronstadt as a member of The Stone Poneys, and ran McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, booking acts like Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Tom Waits, Chet Atkins and Little Feat) "The warmth of her voice and her intuitive connection are magnetic...Her passionate commitment to justice and the Earth won my heart." ~ Linda Waterfall, recording artist, composer, guitarist, and cornish College of the Arts music professor 'Having engineered Robyn's first two CDs and worked closely with her in a co-producer capacity -- and more importantly, having loved her music since I first heard her in 2001 -- I can say there are few songwriters I respect more. In the studio she's an incredible professional with an amazing ear and instincts, eager to learn and equally giving. Her joy, passion and creativity is infectious and plain fun. As a musician and writer, her sensitivity, awareness and craft simply shine. I can never wait to hear what she's going to come up with next. I love every song and even after working with her for months on Many Moons, I have never tired of listening to that album and am proud to have been a part of it.' ~ Jeff Woollen, Village Sound Studios 'I really love Many Moons...truly one of my favorite new releases I've received in the last many, many months. Really, just a lovely record...wow!...an absolute treat to listen to from beginning to end.' ~ Mark Michaelis, 'Acoustic Harmony,' WGDR Radio, VT 'My gosh, it is really, really very good. I listened, I listened again. I really enjoy your singing, the songs, the arrangements. The first cut on Many Moons drew me in, and I was pretty much compelled to not skip around, and that does not often happen to me these days. Great work! ~ Rik James, 'Americana Backroads,' KGLT-FM, Bozeman, MT "It is always a joy to find artists, emerging ones or otherwise, that have a special gift that I was not previously aware of...you are one of those." ~ Craig Huegel, "Our Kind of Folk," WSLR, Sarasota, FL 'Each time I hear a Robyn Landis song I feel a delicious surprise and I think, "Gosh, that's a beautiful song. Gosh, what a beautiful voice." ~ Kelley Martin, Acoustic Pie Radio, April 2010 "Smooth vocals, like an earthy Laurie Lewis...Landis has won a lot of songwriting awards, and it's easy to see why. She's great at taking a moment in time and using it to convey an emotion so strong that everyone listening will nod their heads...like a good short story." ~ INDIE-MUSIC.com "You are a spectacular human being, a great songsmith, and a fantastic performer. Thank you SO much for gracing my stage!" ~ Scott Docherty, Redhare Concerts, Oregon.
