Robyn Landis - Waterproof

Robyn's articulate, passionate and evocative writing has invited frequent comparisons to Richard Shindell (one of her favorite influences). Her songs are delivered with pure, warm, intimate vocals and appealing folk-Americana melodies. She has toured extensively; co-written and shared the stage with many fine writers and musicians; and taught songwriting at festival workshops. Robyn's second recording 'Many Moons' was one of the most-played records on folk radio in 2009, with no special promotion or representation. Now, her third and newest CD 'Waterproof,' produced by John Jennings (Mary-Chapin Carpenter) and featuring Christine Lavin, brings to life a fresh set of original songs for thinkers and dreamers. Reflecting at once a joyful and sober perspective on the world, it's an expansive chronicle of life's journeys...uplifting, activist, even spiritual, yet deeply personal. It's a compassionate embrace of the fragile and a paean to hope and resilience. A soulful, transparent, unpretentious performer, Robyn's literacy dates back to early childhood. A published poet and grade-school spelling bee champ, she published two bestselling books while in her 20s, and penned national magazine and newspaper pieces as a 16-year-old college freshman. When she turned her attention to music, her writing gifts translated naturally and beautifully. Her intelligent songcraft has garnered over 55 honors since 2005, including first place in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, first place at the Wildflower! Festival, and Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. She was a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist and has been an official showcasing artist at Folk Alliance International and regional conferences.
