Richard Wyands - As Long As There's Music

Wyands is a veteran pianist whose lightly swinging style is a little reminiscent of Red Garland. He came to national prominence accompanying Ella Fitzgerald & Carmen McRae, and has toured with top names, including Kenny Burrell, Freddie Hubbard & Illinois Jacquet. Here he makes his debut as a leader with a deliciously swinging trio featuring bassist Ray Drummond & drummer Grady Tate. This imaginative program consists of standards ("Stairway To The Stars") and jazz classics ("Drop Me Off In Harlem" & "Stolen Sweets").
