'Sorry to say, but our greatest ambition was playing a local bar like The Green Room,' says drummer & vocalist Peeps G, 'We were having fun writing songs, learning how to play before we could think about doing a show. Even our first show was nerve wracking. Kevin was the only person in our group who had ever played in front of people.' Over the next 30 months, Plunt juggled their busy work schedules, expanded into a four piece and recorded whenever the studio had an open day: 'We played a few shows over two years, and at one of them, Brian checked us out and I asked if he wanted to play guitar, knowing that he is a bassist. He said 'yes,' remembers Kevin, 'I thought it was great that we had four people who were not playing their original instruments. It brought a different attitude to the songs.' And now finally, after 2 years, Plunt is proud to present their debut release via the ultra-cool and newly relocated in Montreal, Bongo Beat Records. Simple, short and savvy, Plunt's debut CD contains 16 songs that clock in at just over 32 minutes. While it fuses a whole range of influences including late 70s NYC punk and 90s indie-rock, the band also lyrically explores neighborhood living, having sex, living with cats & dogs, having more sex, real estate agents, and food, which are all without a doubt, classic songwriting subjects. Special guests include Franco Proietti (Franco Proietti Morph-tet & x-Kobayashi), Josh Geary (x-Kobayashi), Ian Jack (Loft Party), Jon Asencio (Doughboys, Pest 5000, Goa), Phil Batthika, Robbie Morselli, Stéphane Bourbonnais and Peep's cat, which was trained to play the kazoo. About the members: Peeps G - Drums & Vocals. Peeps does not want us to use her real name in fear that her mom will find out she plays in a band. She is also an avid fan of Marky Ramone, The Breeders and You Tube drum tutorials. Most of the songs on the CD are about her cat. Uncle Kevvy - Guitars & keyboards. His mom already knows he's in a band and wishes that someday, he will get a real job. Played keyboards in Rational Youth, Pest 5000 and countless other bands, but is now content working as a freelance recording engineer and music industry hack. Brian Arsenault - Guitars. Better known as the bass player for Strawberry and Squarewaves, 'Little Eddie' joined Plunt during the recording of their debut. Besides being a handyman who can construct his own effect pedals, Brian is adored because he can actually translate and play the musical chaos that revolves in Peep's head. Genevieve Legogo - Former Bassist and Plunt's only casualty. After an Ontario tour in the summer of 2008, she decided the touring life was not for her. And who can blame her? There's only so many Taco Bell's you can eat at before you start figuring out that it's the Taco Deluxe that gives you gas... Ryan Eugene Newman - Bass. A chance meeting brought him into the world of Plunt. The self-proclaimed 'young buck' is also an accomplished singer-songwriter of his own accord, but most importantly, he has an Econoline van which has a bumper sticker that proclaims 'If the van's a rockin' don't come knockin.' « Entre les rythmes du Velvet Underground, l'euro-pop des années 80 et les guitares alt-country! À cette époque, la seule chose qui importait était de boire de la bière et de dépenser de l'argent. « Notre plus grande ambition était de jouer des clubs locaux comme le Green Room », déclare Peeps G, batteuse et vocaliste du groupe. « Avant même de penser à monter sur une scène, nous prenions beaucoup de plaisir à écrire des chansons et à apprendre comment jouer de nos instruments. Notre premier spectacle était très énervant, car la seule personne du groupe qui avait déjà mis les pieds sur une scène était Kevin. » Pendant les 30 mois suivant ce premier spectacle, les membres de Plunt ont tenté de diviser leur temps parmi leur horaire chargé. Le groupe s'est développé en un quatuor et enregistrait aussitôt qu'un studio était libre. « Nous avons joué quelques spectacles pendant deux ans et Brian s'est rendu à un de ceux-ci pour nous voir. C'est alors que je lui ai demandé s'il voulait être notre guitariste, sachant qu'il était bassiste. Il a dit « oui », se rappelle Kevin. « Je trouvais fantastique d'avoir quatre personnes dans le groupe qui ne jouaient pas leurs instruments de choix. Cela apportait une nouvelle approche aux chansons. » Après deux ans, Plunt est fier de présenter leur tout premier album, sur Bongo Beat Records, une étiquette branchée de Montréal qui a tout récemment emménagée dans de nouveaux locaux. Sa mère sait qu'il joue dans un groupe de musique et espère qu'un jour il se trouvera un vrai emploi. Avant Plunt, Uncle Kevvy a joué dans les groupes Rational Youth, Pest 5000 et plusieurs autres. Il est heureux de travailler aujourd'hui comme technicien de studio pigiste et comme écrivassier de l'industrie de la musique. Brian Arsenault - Guitares. Mieux connu en tant que bassiste pour les groupes Strawberry et Squarewaves, Brian, surnommé « Little Eddie », s'est joint à Plunt alors que le groupe enregistrait son premier album. En plus d'être un homme-à-tout-faire qui construit ses propres pédales, Brian est adoré du groupe car il peut aisément traduire en musique les sons chaotiques qui virevoltent dans la tête de Peeps. Genevieve Legogo - Ancienne bassiste du groupe et la seule perte pour Plunt. Suite à une tournée en Ontario à l'été 2008, Geneviève décida que la vie de tournée n'était pas pour elle, et qui pourrait la blâmer? Il y a une limite à la consommation de tacos de chez Taco Bell qu'une personne peut digérer! Ryan Eugene Newman - Bassiste. C'est grâce à une rencontre fortuite qu'il est tombé dans l'univers de Plunt. Ce jeune homme est un auteur-compositeur accompli et, encore plus important, a un camion « Econoline » avec un auto-collant qui contient le slogan If the van's a rockin' don't come knockin (« si le camion bouge, ne cognez pas! »)
