Digitally remastered edition of the 1975 debut album by the eight-piece Jazz Funk outfit from Portland, Oregon. The band were discovered by Wayne Henderson of the Jazz Crusaders who signed them to his at Home Productions, and issued their records through Fantasy Records. Although they didn't crossover to super-stardom, their records are good examples of mid-'70s Earth Wind & Fire-styled Funk. The percussive 'Bouncy Lady' is one of the key breaks used by the pioneering DJs who created Hip Hop, although at the time of release the single of 'Midnight at the Oasis', which nearly made the charts, was it's main calling card. Other cuts such as the Earth Wind & Fire-style 'Reality' and the pure Jazz-Funk of 'Straight Ahead' are both excellent and 'My Love' and 'Plastic People' are showcase the vocals of Sherman Davis. Beat Goes Public.
