Deborah Kerr inherits an estate and three ardent suitors in this zany romantic comedy costarring Robert Walker, Mark Stevens and Peter Lawford. When an old soldier she met during the war leaves her his ranch in Texas, British heiress Alison Kirbe (Kerr) sets sail for America to claim her 50,000 acres of land. Also along for the crossing are a con man (Walker), a wolf (Lawford) and a no-nonsense lawyer (Stevens), three bachelors who compete for her hand. Deciding to spend a few days in New York, Alison is wined and dined by the amorous trio, each unaware that her property's a wasteland and worth less than a cent. Directed by Oscar-winner Norman Taurog (Skippy, 1931), Please Believe Me was produced by horror legend Val Lewton (Cat People) in an attempt to break away from the genre.
