Paul Fried is widely regarded as one of America's foremost flutists. He began his studies with his father Milton Fried, and then at the age of 8 was given a full scholorship to study with Julius Baker at the Juilliard Preparatory School. Later in life, he again studied at Juilliard and graduated with a BS Degree in 1970. Upon graduation Fried joined the Boston Symphony, and held the position of Assistant Principal Flutist and later Solo Flutist of the Boston Pops from 1970 - to 1982. He has also been Co - Principal Flutist with the Pittsburgh Symphony and Solo Flutist with the New York Chamber Symphony and performed as Solo Flutist with the Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert van Karajan. Fried moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and has been the Solo Flutist and Piccolo for over 200 major motion pictures including Lethal Weapon - Die Hard, Anastasia, Hoffa, and Cat in the Hat. He is Solo Flutist of the New West Symphony and Acting Principal Flutist of the California Philharmonic Orchestra. Paul Fried teaches flute privately in Los Angeles.
