A unique collection of rare Northern Soul gems culled from more than a dozen independent labels representing artists from New York, New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and beyond - chronicling the golden era of American soul music from the early 1960’s through the early 1970’s. Many of these artists were not big names but their recordings have been proven to be highly influential to the community of Northern Soul devotees. Artists include The Whispers, Leon Haywood, Sugar Pie Desanto, Jimmy Chandler, Al "Mr. Soul" Scott, Chuck & The Daylighters, The Chosen Few, Tamala Lewis, George Kerr and many others. All selections have been newly remastered for this release.
