Audiophile 180g Virgin Vinyl LP! Mastered From Original Masters of Universal Music! Pressed at Pallas! Violinist Nathan Milstein, accompanied by pianist Artur Balsam, performs compositional works by Prokofiev, Handel & Vitali, recorded January 25-27, 1955 in New York. 'Opus 94 is one of the most serene, tuneful, and silky -smooth of Prokofiev's works and is perhaps his most popular composition for chamber ensemble. It was originally written for the flute, and the present reviewer likes it better that way, especially when there are people like Doriot Anthony Dwyer to record it. Milstein, nevertheless, presents an extremely eloquent case for the violin version, which was made by Prokofiev himself. The violinist's big tone and broad, generous style are, of course, perfectly adapted to the baroque demands of Handel and Vitali, and the recording of all three works is excellent.' - High Fidelity
