As the last decade of the millennium wound down, new favourites such as Macy Gray, Londonbeat, Soul Asylum and M People emerged on the scene. Modern R&B and Urban Pop were powerful forces in the top 40 charts during the 90's with TLC leading the way with their #1 hit 'Waterfalls'. The popularity of boy bands continued through from the previous decade with artists such as Backstreet Boys at the peak of their success. Teen pop exploded in the late 90's when Britney Spears released the chart topping track 'Baby, One More Time'. The 90's also saw a revival of singer/songwriter movement, which included the likes of Sophie B. Hawkins and Jeff Buckley, whose unfortunate death shocked in the world in 1997. Daryl Braithwaite continued his success from the late 80's with his hit single 'Horses' that spent 3 weeks at #1.
