Unlike her neighbors in the rural northern Netherlands, widowed young mom Betriek (Sallie Harmsen) was solicitous of the archeological team digging through the peat bog at the community's edge. As the ancient corpses they unearth evidence violent ends, and horrific occurrences start plaguing the village, they'll discover to their terror that some things are best left buried.
