Unlike many of his contemporaries, Miguel can really sing. His songs are affecting and unaffected. We could talk about Beck, Skip Spence, Elliott Smith, or some other songwriting heroes, but that would be a waste of time. Mendez is the real deal. After his work with Rose for Bodhan, J Mascis, Farmer Dave, Tiffany Anders, and Dios Malos, Miguel seems rather happy to be stripped naked.
