An old church house, a drive-in theater; filled with the living and the dead, both crumbling from the echos of a near by interstate. Dive bars, smoke filled trailers and what's left of a dirty ashtray spinning on the side of the road...you've arrived. Welcome to the 'Dirt Town City Limits'. Singer/Songwriter Mathew deRiso a.k.a. Mat d. joins forces once again with bandmates the Profane Saints for another rough and tumble roots rock ride beyond the bright lights and pretty faces. Nearly two years in the making, 'Dirt Town City Limits' is the first full band release following 2007's promising 'Brand New Faith' EP and the band's second full length album since forming in 2006. Recorded on and off from June 2007 to May 2009, the listener is treated to a sound in stark and bittersweet contrast to Mat D.s award winning acoustic LPs 'Gasoline Rattle' and 'Merciful 66' Raw, more irreverent and fueled by a heavy dose of outlaw country skank -'Dirt Town City Limits' offers up 14 tracks formed from the afterbirth of post punk and American roots music narrated by the unmistakable voice of Mat d. that brings the listener back to the golden age of the blues before it abandons you at the doorstep of a rockabilly motel in parts unknown, all glued together by percussionist Jeff Deignan, newest member Bob Birch on electric bass and former bassist turned lead guitarist Kurt Mullins. Hands down the best thing the group has released since the critically acclaimed indie gem 'Small Town Burning...' with more maturity, hotter licks and a renewed vision of cynicism, emotion and raw energy. So throw a couple bottles in the back, blow the dust off the bible, grab a half a pack of cigarettes and bring a pocketful of out of state cash with you. You're headed for the 'Dirt Town City Limits.' You can be our witness...the Profane Saints still have the urge to testify. Amen.
