SHINGETSU was, no doubt about it, the Seventies Japanese band of the late Seventies. Makoto Kitayama, their former singer, recorded "Hiraku Sazanami" in 1998, exploiting older compositions. He performs an intelligent and refined symphonic rock that shows, among others, the influence they got from KING CRIMSON, due to the fact that it includes majestuous and beautiful Mellotron parts. The sharp and Robert Fripp-like guitar solos as well as the impressionist and suggestive neo-classic can sometimes evoke Jean-Philippe Goude's works.
