Born in Chicago and blessed with pipes of gold, Loleatta Holloway began her career as a gospel performer with the Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker, and the Caravans. She began singing on disco productions in the mid 1970s, mainly on the famed Salsoul Records label - which spawned such classics as 1980s "Love Sensation" and "Relight My Fire" by Dan Hartman. Holloway left Salsoul in 1984 and began work on an album which was unfortunately never released - only two singles were put out by the famed Streetwise label, "Crash Goes Love" and "Sweet Thing" - a song co-written by Chaka Khan & Tony Maiden of "Rufus" fame. During the following years, many of her old hits were adapted by House producers like Black Box who sampled her vocals from "Love Sensation" for their track "Ride On Time." The Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch smash "Good Vibrations" from 1991, also sampled her vocals from "Love Sensation." In conjunction with the studio outfit Triangle, she released "Set Me Free (Do That To Me)" on Jack Pot Records in 1991. The song blew up in the clubs and a remix by The Future Sound Of London turned heads in the UK. The famed quirky Swedish DJ and house music producer Opolopo has done a brilliant banger of a remix of the track which let's Holloway's glorious vocals take center stage.
