Korla Pandit was the stage name for John Roland Redd, St. Louis born composer, organist, pianist and early television pioneer. Dubbed "The Godfather of Exotica," the turban topped Pandit created eerie background music for radio's occult adventure series, "Chandu the Magician" on his Hammond C-3 and Nova Chord organs. He was soon featured on his own television show, "Korla Pandit's Adventures in Music" which debuted in 1949 on KTLA in Los Angeles. Pandit recorded several theme oriented albums over the course of his career featuring exotic sounds and eccentric effects. On "Korla Pandit's Musical Gems" we find the Swami of strange adding his eccentric touch to a program of standards including "Begin the Beguine" and "Poor Butterflly". All selections newly re-mastered. [Note: This product is an authorized CD-R and is manufactured on demand].
