Kenny Barron - Sunset to Dawn - Muse Master Edition

Originally released in 1973 on Muse Records, Sunset to Dawn marked Kenny Barron's stunning debut as a bandleader. Already a well-respected sideman with stints alongside Dizzy Gillespie and Yusef Lateef, Barron steps into the spotlight with an album that's both soulful and forward-looking, blending post-bop virtuosity with spiritual searching. The album unfolds like a journey - lyrical, bold, and emotionally resonant. The presence of Carlos Garnett adds fire and edge, while Buster Williams and Freddie Waits lay down a groove that's both loose and grounded. Featuring an all-star lineup including Carlos Garnett (tenor sax), Buster Williams (bass), and Freddie Waits (drums), this record has remained out of print for decades, and now receives the premium treatment.Vinyl re-release in October 2025 has sold out of 2,500 manufactured. Remastered directly from the original analog tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Packaged in a 4-panel digipak with 8-page booklet with newly written liner notes by Ted Panken and Barney Fields with a rare photograph by Raymond Ross.
