With more than 100 songs recorded by artists as diverse as Rosanne Cash to George Thorogood, Keith Sykes has enjoyed a life in music for more than 20 years. He has toured every corner of America and played in almost every conceivable kind of venue. He has appeared on Saturday Night Live and Austin City Limits, was featured on radio's King Biscuit Flower Hour and has played countless live radio shows. He has hosted a songwriter series on Memphis' legendary Beale Street featuring many of music's best writers. Recordings of his songs have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and he is considered one of Memphis' most highly regarded music figures. Bucksnort Blues is Sykes 15th album and his first all blues record. "I've wanted to do a blues album forever, so I figured I better get to it", Sykes says. "I've put some blues or blues inspired songs on earlier records, but I really wanted this one to be an 'every song, blues song record'. I'm not trying to copy; I just wanna live out my inspiration". He has used his considerable songwriting skills to make Bucksnort Blues one of his finest efforts to date. The opening track, 'Capt. Pete's Blues Cruise', sets the tone with it's story of Memphis DJ Capt. Pete of WEVL radio fame. "He always played the coolest stuff on his shows. He'd dig way deep, then he'd play things I've heard many times, but he always made my Friday nights something to look forward to".' Texas Blues' tells four stories in one song, all taking place in Texas. "I consider Texas my second home because I've got so many good friends there. I just tired to groove and tell a few stories". One listen and you can hear he grooves everywhere on this CD. Sykes has made a high quality video to promote 'City of Good Abode', the song about his Memphis home. "I wrote it back in the '70's but this is the first time I've recorded it. It's seemed to click with the band so we had fun with it".
