McKanzie is one of the hottest emerging artists on the European and British folk scenes, where she clocks up over 150 shows a year. Although often mistaken for an American, K.C is actually Berlin born and bred. Her artistic life changed, when at the tender age of 15 she heard the Band's the Weight on the car radio.... and she charged headlong into a continuing love affair with American roots music, teaching herself guitar and banjo along the way. Her sound is a beguiling mixture of English Folk of the 60s and 70s, old-time Bluegrass and contemporary Americana. Her voice is pure and wistful and floats over her ballads of love, loss, tragedy and redemption. K.C. immediately reminds of yesterday's songbirds, Sandy Denny, Maddy Prior or Joni Mitchell as well as more modern interpreters of the style such as Gillian Welch, Devon Sproule.
