Two CD collection containing the complete solo Westbound recordings of Junie Morrison, including the albums When We Do, Freeze and Suzie Super Groupie, plus a previously unissued track and others exclusive to singles. Junie was a key architect of the Ohio Players' funk sound in the early 70s, and as a member of Funkadelic later that decade wrote their R&B #1's 'One Nation Under A Groove' and '(Not Just) Knee Deep'. As writer of 'Funky Worm' he was crucial to the sound of G-Funk pioneered by Dr Dre. Last year he experienced a commercial rebirth, with 'Suzie Thundertussy' sampled by Kanye West, and Solange Knowles writing the song 'Junie' for him. He also worked with LA producer Dam Funk. This set contains the best of his solo work. The Kanye West sample is included, alongside tracks sampled by DJ Shadow, J Dilla, Madlib and others. The music ranges from the pure funk of 'Granny's Funky Rolls Royce' to the orchestral soul of 'Tight Rope' and 'If You Love Him', all in fully remastered sound.
