Juliane Banse - Albanaberg/Karl Amadeus Hartmann

A programme of songs by Alban Berg and K.A. Hartmann, powerful and poetic songs spanning a turbulent era, performed by gifted German soprano Juliane Banse, accompanied by Serbian pianist Aleksandar Madzar. Berg's early songs chart the young composer's metamorphosis from writer of late romantic love songs to master of the modern idiom. K.A. Hartmann's cantata 'Lamento' for soprano and piano is a demanding work; it has rarely been recorded but here sounds wonderful.
