Jorge Dalto, an Argentine-born jazz pianist whose version of 'This Masquerade' with the guitarist George Benson won a Grammy Award in 1976, was a legend among musicians, a highly sought after session player and a masterful live performer. At the age of 25, in 1973, he settled in New York and played with some of the hottest Latin Jazz bands in the city including Tito Puente's Latin Jazz Ensemble and Machito. Before playing with Benson, he was a member of Gato Barbieri's group, and became involved in the Jazz-Rock fusion movement of the mid 70's. This rare solo album, recorded in 1978, has more of a Latin Jazz fusion feel and features an amazing line-up: Jorge Dalto - acoustic piano; Stanley Banks and Anthony Jackson on bass guitar; George Benson and Phil Upchurch on guitars; Harvey Mason on drums; the Brecker Brothers (Randy on trumpet and flugelhorn, Michael on tenor sax); Hubert Laws on flute; Ronnie Foster on keyboards and Frank Malabe on percussion. All selections newly re-mastered.
