Jimmy Clanton - Venus in Blue Jeans / Just a Dream

Baton Rouge, Louisiana native Jimmy Clanton became known as the "swamp pop R&B teenage idol." He recorded a doo-wop song he had written called "Just a Dream" which reached number four on the Billboard chart and sold a million copies in 1958. One of the few white singers to emerge from the New Orleans R&B market, Clanton got swept up in the popular teen music wave of the 1950's and 1960's and scored big again in 1962 with "Venus in Blue Jeans."
