The Story of Jerry & the Champions When some think of extraordinary and outrageousness, Jerry & the Champions definitely comes to mind. Formed in 1981 in San Francisco, California, USA by Jerome "Jerry" Clay, and his brother Kenneth "Fast Ken" Clay, Jerry & the Champions have set a pattern of originality, creativeness, and spontaneity from the very start. The leader, Jerry earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and became the principle song writer for the group. Focusing primarily on Funk music, the group is known for it's exciting high-energy theatrical stage shows, elaborate costumes and funky musical style. Over the years, the group has evolved from a band into a singing group and has utilized the talents of some extraordinary female vocalists including Pat "Wajeedah" Barrow of San Francisco, Brenda Holloway of the popular bay area group, "Pride and Joy", Perri "Pebbles" Reid of the "Mercedes Boy" fame, and presently Tranishia Gholston aka "Trisha Gold", and has had the opportunity to work with some of the bay area's top musicians and producers including "Felton Pilate II" of the famous bay area group, "Con Funk Shun", who co-produced the group's first album "Be By My Side". The "Greatest Hits" album is a culmination of 30 years of recording and represents the group's finest work. Presently, Jerry & the Champions continue to produce exciting new music and have branched out into video production as well. The group's music videos have become very popular on Youtube and have garnered them a whole new generation of fans from around the world. Peace enjoy safely. Clayboard Entertainment.
