Janis Martin - My Boy Elvis

EU-only collection. Janis Martin is acknowledged as the very first female Rock 'n' Roller, having signed with a major record label in 1956 when she was just 16. Marketed as "The Female Elvis", she cut some of the best, most collectable R&R and Rockabilly records of the era. Indeed, the South African 10" LP JANIS & ELVIS, which featured four tracks by each artist, was for many years the most sought-after R&R artifact in the record collecting world (Janis' four sides are included herein). Recorded in Nashville and New York, with A-team sessions bands including men like Chet Atkins; Grady Martin; Hank Garland; George Barnes; Floyd Cramer; Shorty Long; Buddy Harman and Bunny Shawker, these are exquisite recordings. This 33 track release comprises everything that Janis recorded between 1956 and 1958, and the four sides she recorded for the Belgian Palette label in 1960.
