Jamie Two-Ever...thoughts on the songs.... 1. Wait- This I originally did with just vocal sounds-called "Zo Zee". Steve came up with these wonderful lyrics but didn't really want to get involved in an a cappella CD, which I wanted to do-due to having rotator cuff surgery. I looked at it as a personal challenge. I love this song. 2. Righteous Side Of Love- The first record I did with covers that I really just wanted to do was "Jamie Hoo-Ever" (I was credited on a major label gospel record I recorded as Jamie Hoever-so I just had to use a variation of this-just too funny not to). Anyway-I toured with Don Dixon for years-and we did this song a lot. I always wanted to try it with a "Blame It One Cain" approach. Here it is... 3. Press Save- Always wanted to do on of these things with voices doing the drum sounds. Hardly original in approach, but what the Hell...I wanted to do it. Personally a very important song for me. 4. Misery- The first song I ever played with The Spongetones. I remember it vividly, at my old house in Charlotte. I always wanted to do it with the style of "Thankyou, Girl". Done! 5. Lost- An unusual style for me-usually not what I go for-but I like the extremely intimate and up-front vocal. Steve plays many things here and co-wrote it with me. Again, very important song for me. 6. Honest Work- I wrote this 4 years ago at my Hooverama Studio in Charlotte. Co-written with Pat Walters-it's about life. I was going for a pun with my line "I am only 54",stolen indirectly from "It's A Wonderful Life"-from uncle Billy. 7. Georgia Rose- I am totally in love with the play "King Mackerel and the Blues Are Running" by Jim Wann, Bland Simpson, and Don Dixon (GR written by Jim and Bland). I like the play probably even better then they do. This song as a lovely story-and I just wanted to tell it with my own voice. 8. I'm Looking Through With You- You'll notice I added "With" to the title...? This entire thing is an exercise in "Bad Beatles". I changed all the minor chords to major-and vice versa. Please try to laugh-it was intentional. 9. The Jim Joanne Massacre- This is my take on "My Girl, Bill". I got an email from an old friend-due to the large, pink signature on it-somehow I had decided he'd had a sex change. Boy-what an imagination I have...? When I finally asked him-he told me "No, nor has my wife or any of our kids". All in good fun. My transgender friends like it too. 10. Walk Away Renee- Recorded for a project to use for doing "how to make a recording" seminars. They haven't really happened yet-but they will. Time to spread it around. I have always loved this song. Makes me feel like an infatuated teen...? 11. Take Care Of You- I wrote this for Linda, my wife. I mean it too. She loved it-but pointed out it could have been written from a parent to a child. We never had any-but hopefully someone else might see it like this. Important song. 12. Star- This is one of the most Beatle-sounding tunes I have ever heard and I have always loved it. A friend reminded me about this song-and I said-"Yeah! That's a great tune to do vocal-only". Here tis... 13. You Took Away The Birds- My wife took a semi-long trip recently and I was left alone to batch-it. I was on our back porch, sucking down a martini-when I noticed this: With Linda gone-the birds were gone! It was erie.....when she came home-they returned. True story. 14. There's A Place- I got the concept to do this last year-actually on our anniversary. A drop-D tuning, and in ¾ time.-and delivered like Dixon would do it. I love the way it came out-considering this song is my very favorite song EVER. Period. I had to take it a different place-because The B's version IS the bomb. I am happy with this. 15. Oh Babe Take Me Home- Bob Lind is-and will always be my sing favorite singer/songwriter. He has cornered the market on "sad"-in such a great way. This song-like his others-has always haunted me. I love it.
