However in March 2012 Kilbane's music brought an unexpected request when an invitation arrived from the prisoners in Grafton High Security Prison in Ohio, USA to perform a concert in the prison of his music. This all occurred following the prisoners becoming familiar with his music and work in the prison. Grafton is a death row institution and is home to over 1000 inmates who have committed some of the worst crimes in society. This invitation gave James much personal hope and further belief to continue and develop in his work. With twenty five years involvement in the music industry he has grown musically and continues to promote what he believes, his faith and music that is now also important to so many at home and around the world. This dedication and work has led him to take chances in his career, by diversifying in his recordings, songs and music. Kilbane's courage has helped sustain him, but it has also helped to vary Gospel and faith based music available in Ireland to a wider audience.
