Kimie Kim & Infinite Loop - Korea based jazz funk fusion band released their first album (Across the Ocean). Guitar Player Kimie Kim always dreamed the band like community that many musicians can play together. So they can play with various music styles with many musicians depend on project. At this (Across the Ocean) project, Kimie Kim called three players, Tagg on Drums, Duyoung Yoon on Bass and Nokyung Lee on Piano. During the recording session, they tried playing live as possible. So many tracks are recorded only a couple of takes. With less overdubbing, there are some mistakes but you can hear the natural live playing sound. This album Across the Ocean is based on improvised jazz but has various musical influences like funk, rock, acid, etc. You can hear a lot of jazz solos on groove oriented rhythms. As band leader, Guitarist Kimie Kim was born 1975 Jeju, South Korea. He moved to Hollywood to attend Musicians Institute at 19. After experiencing jazz festivals in United States and Canada, He went to Austria to attend the Vienna Conservatory where he studied with Christian Havel. Later He also studied with Mimi Fox and Steve Erquiaga in San Francisco bay area. When he came back to Korea after over 10 years musical journey, He and his longtime mate drummer tagg launched their Infinite Loop Project. Two more members join the band. Nokyoung Lee, and Duyoung Yoon. By the time, Bass Player Duyoung was just come back from Holland where he stays over 10 years. He did many jazz works with European players there. Berklee graduate Nokyung Lee has three solo albums released in Korea and was looking for playing opportunities of other styles. This Album (Across the Ocean) has 8 tracks of instrumentals. Many songs are 7-8 minutes of running time and they tried put more improvisations.
