The Indestructible Man is a crime horror, science fiction film starring Lon Chaney, Jr., Ross Elliott and Robert Shayne. Charles 'Butcher' Benton (Lon Chaney, Jr.) is a double-crossed robber and murderer who was executed in the gas chamber. His body was unlawfully sold to a scientist who plans to move his experiments into the cause and cure of cancer to human subjects by rejuvenating damaged human tissue. Benson's corpse is subjected to chemical injection and massive jolts of high-voltage electricity. Benton's heart is re-stimulated and he is completely revived, though rendered mute due to electrical damage to his vocal chords. Benton's skin is virtually impervious to trauma, scalpels, bullets and more due to these experiments. Benton goes on a killing spree now that he is revived. He kills the doctor and his assistant, then goes after his attorney who betrayed him and stool his loot. As the police are chasing Benton he is hit be a bazooka and is heavily burned by a flamethrower. Weakened, Benton flees to a power station where he climbs atop a gantry, inadvertently setting it in motion. He fails to notice that the gantry is moving toward the main transformer. A hook comes too close to one of the terminals as hundreds of thousands of volts surge throughout it's metal frame. Can Benton escape death or can he defy it? This movie is a superb science fiction and horror story with the one and only Lon Chaney, Jr. (71 minutes - 1956 - Black & White - 4:3)
