I Like It kicks off with the ultimate moog easy-listening classic E.V.A. (Extra Vehicular Activity or Space Walking to all non-NASA types) by Jean Jacques Perrey and then takes a trip through the music of singer Camille Yarborough (accompanied by guitarist Cornell Dupree). The title track by The Players Association (who include amongst others, heavy jazz dudes Joe Farrell, Jon Faddis, Mike Mandel and Ray Mantilla) make a joyful noise while The Pazant Brothers (trumpeter Al and saxophonist Ed, both of Pucho's Latin Soul Brothers) explore Nat Adderley's Work Song and producer Ed Bland's Loose And Juicy. Nanette Natal is back to guitar/vocal basics for Lavender Thursday, while Chris Hills does the Funkey Monkey with Columbus Baker, Bob Moses and John Coltrane. Trumpeter Dave Burns knocks 'em dead with Rigor Mortez and Richie's Dream* (both in company that includes veteran trombonist Al Grey, saxophonist Billy Mitchell and vibist Bobby Hutcherson). Alto saxophonist Bunky Green declares Funk Ain't A Word and the fine backing group (guitarist Billy Butler, bassist Wilbur Bascomb et al) concur. Finally, moog maestro Jean Jacques Perrey returns for Cat In The Night and, from his collaboration with Gershon Kingsley, Mas Que Nada*. DJ Russ Dewbury wears his compilation hat and spins the wheel of choice cuts.
