An homage in equal parts to "Frankenstein", "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", and the erotic films of late Italian horror auteur Joe D'Amato, Hyde's Secret Nightmare is itself a wild erotic horror film from the highly prolific Italian producer/director Domiziano Cristopharo. The story colourfully strobes through a cinematic landscape of obsession, paranoia, phobia, perversion, and transgression, as Henry, a scientist, attempts to create a cure for his own impotence, and in doing so enlists the help of his assistant Hans and a necrophiliac gravedigger Abdul to illegally retrieve several corpses for his over-the-top experiments. After testing the experimental serum on himself, the mad doctor finds himself possessing the body of a woman, Eva Hyde (Roberta Gemma), who becomes engulfed in a world of dark eroticism where sex seems the only way to attain a state of well-being.
