Montreal's retro pop classicists The High Dials announced their return this fall with a two-part album - Primitive Feelings. Released digitally in June, Part I roamed like a blissed-out tiger across a colourful landscape of northern soul, electro pop and psychedelic cumbia. In late September, Part II bares it's teeth and concludes the full LP, now available on 180 gram coloured vinyl. The resulting album is a fun, summery mix of soulful, druggy beats recalling lo-fi indie dance gems from Primal Scream and Beck. Recommended for fans of the sunnier side of psychedelic indie - MGMT, Flaming Lips, Broncho and Ariel Pink. The High Dials have an extensive back catalogue ranging across folk rock, power pop and melancholic post-disco. Their previous full-length was 2015's In the AM Wilds, for which the band toured the UK and Ireland, USA, Mexico and Colombia. The album enjoyed a long chart run on Canadian campus radio and several of it's songs feature in the Netflix series House of Cards. In 2018, they returned from creative hiatus with the Foreverish EP. Primitive Feelings is the High Dials' sixth album - an achievement in itself in an age of fast-disappearing attention spans and even faster disappearing guitars.
